Canon EOS 6D 20.2 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera

There is a lot to say about the Canon 6D. It is a 20.2 megapixel, full-frame camera that has a wide ISO range; ideal for shooting landscapes and capturing quality images even in low-light situations. The EV-3 sensitivity allows the camera to focus in dark conditions; removing noise from images shot at night. The 6D also has a continuous-mode that will allow you to shoot 4.5 frames per second, for action shots.

The Canon 6D color-space selector allows you to choose between Adobe RGB, intended for those who use editing software, or the default setting which is sRGB. Its built-in Wi-Fi transmitter offers the ability to transfer your images to social media or to the Canon Image Gateway. Having a Wi-Fi capability means you can operate the camera remotely from your smartphone. With the downloaded app, images can be uploaded virtually anywhere. The built-in GPS navigation records location information including latitude, longitude and altitude, making this a great camera for nature or travel photographers.

This full-frame, single-lens reflex (SLR) camera offers an auto-focus lock and an auto-exposure lock for seasoned photographers. It is compatible with SD, SDHC, SDXC and UHS-I memory cards. However, it only has one memory card slot.  It has an EF mount compatible with Canon EF lenses, (except EF-S and EF-M.)

Having an 11-point auto-focus system, the Canon 6D captures brilliant shots accurately even in dim lighting. The intelligent Focus Color Luminance (iFCL) Metering System allows you to test center-weighted, partial and spot-metering besides a five-step exposure option for a perfect exposure every time. This camera does not feature face recognition; a drawback for a camera of this caliber.

Equipped with an Integrated Cleaning System, this camera removes dust particles from the surface of the glass filter with ultrasonic vibrations every time you power-up or power-down. The Canon 6D is also completely sealed to protect the inner components from becoming exposed to external contaminants. The monitor has an anti-dust coating for easy cleaning and an anti-reflective construction for a bright, clean display.

The Canon 6D offers a High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode that allows three images of various exposure to be merged and saved as one final image. Having RAW processing, you can quickly convert RAW files to JPEG while controlling size, brightness, picture-style and more. The comparative playback function enables two images to be played back side by side. The Canon 6D even offers silent-shooting, which mutes the shutter and mirror-reflex action for discrete picture-taking. This can be a useful feature in certain situations.

The 6D records high-definition video and will automatically split files for extended recording times. It has a microphone jack for adding an external mic and it comes equipped with a built-in mono-microphone for sound recording. There is a built-in speaker to hear audio during video playback, but it does not come with a headphone jack for sound monitoring during recording. It does however, have an on-screen monitoring display.

Canon states that the 6D has an ergonomic design; what this really means is that it has a slim front to back, and it is lightweight. Canon's touch-screen interface does not appear on this model and it does not have a built-in flash. However, it probably does not need a flash because the camera takes great pictures in low-light settings.
